A Van Sant debut, a Kingsley comedy, and a New Danish thriller. . .

Today is a Tuesday. That means we have new rentals. They are as follows:

Mala Noche
Director Gus Van Sant's (My Own Private Idaho) debut film is considered an important prelude to the New Queer Cinema of the nineties. The story, based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by author Walt Curtis, follows one man's lust for a handsome Mexican immigrant.

You Kill Me
An alcoholic hit man (Ben Kingsley) is sent to San Francisco to clean up his act, after screwing up a vital assignment with his Polish mob family in Buffalo, NY. While going to AA meetings and getting a job at a mortuary he befriends a feisty woman (Tea Leoni). When his family business is threatened by an Irish mob, he heads back home with the aid of his new friend.

Allegro
Inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky's Sci-Fi classic Stalker, Allegro, directed by new comer Christopher Boe, is the story of Zetterstrom, a pianist who returns to his home town of Copenhagen. Upon his return he begins to have visions of an old love who has been erased from his mind. In order to retrieve these memories he must journey into the haunting section of Copenhagen called 'The Zone'.

On a side note, we have been having some problems with our supplier over the last month or so. This has resulted in some orders shipping late. That was the case this week with the films Reign Over Me and Man Push Cart -- however they should be here no later than Friday. I'll announce their arrival.

Until then, happy viewing!
