Dave and The KidNew employee Heather gets her moves on. UPDATE: Dave vs. Heather, Round II: Vogue-Off. Challenge accepted. Dave and I shook on it this past Saturday. Unfortunately, Dave was much offended and said, "I am not rude." While I did not actually say that Dave himself is rude, my comments did imply as such in the interest of smartassery, and it pains me that this has not only insulted Dave's honor but tainted the venerable Vogue-Off proceedings as well. So let it be known for all digital posterity that Dave is in fact NOT rude, and also I bet that he looks really cool in a top hat. Moving on; finally saw "La Vie en Rose" last night. I absolutely adored it and wholeheartedly recommend it. A lot has been said about Marion Cotillard's performance as Edith Piaf, but it's well-deserved. I didn't recognize her as Billy Crudup's sweet, pregnant wife from "Big Fish" until halfway through the film; the transformation is that remarkable. Interestingly, when I looked it up on imdb.com, I was surprised to learn that the original title was actually "La Mome," not "La Vie en Rose," "La Mome" referring to Piaf's early stagename, "Kid Sparrow." So I guess that in France the movie is known as "The Kid." Come peruse The Cinemat's foreign film section. There's a wonderful selection, and the staff is well-versed in little tidbits of trivia.
