IT'S ALIVE!!New employee Heather encounters the store's technology. I was told by Steve when I first arrived at work tonight that I should check out The Bloomington Alternative online because there's a profile of him up there. He promised it would be blog-fodder (blog-fodder, the word rolls off your tongue. Huh...). Curious, I waited until tonight's show was almost over, and then went to the computer in the back room to investigate. But, what ho? As I tried to get online, I discovered that the mouse was possessed by evil computer demons. "It's the ghost in the machine!" I hissed, caught somewhere in the giddy no-man's land between amusement and anxiety. Then Steve ruined my fun by bellowing my name and informing me that he was controlling the computer screen from the front desk. When he was done, I sat back down and read the article. Apparently Steve wanted me to use the article as a jumping off point to make fun of him, but neither it nor past experience has caused me want to do so. C'mon, he's one of the few bosses I've had that doesn't scare the living crap out me. But as it's getting late into the night, I suppose I'll underscore the Alternative's highlighting of Steve's jaunty navy visor, being that it is quite jaunty. Later, as I was typing up tonight's blog entry, Steve once again took control, and the words "hey come out here" appeared on the screen. For a brief moment I feared I was stuck in a cyberpunk movie, but then I figured out what was going on. Go read The Bloomington Alternative now.
